Our Expertise

Add value to your team or project by hiring the exact skills you need

Multidisciplinary team

Our consultants’ expertises are not limited to a certain technology or a single field of interest. All feel comfortable doing software development and system administrations and can be considered to be DevOps. Find below some of the technologies that our consultants excel in.

Java

Java is the programming language that has been used in many innovative products and digital services over the last 25 years. The Java ecosystem is undoubtedly immense. Our Java consultants have expertise working with Java 7, Java 8 and Java 11 and  with the most popular and demanded frameworks and tools such as

  • Spring Boot and Spring framework
  • OSGi
  • Hibernate
  • JDBC
  • Jackson
  • JUnit
  • Mockito
  • Hamcrest
  • AssertJ
  • JAX-WS and JAX-RS
  • Apache FreeMarker, Tomcat and TomEE.

The focus of our consultants is on building web applications, backend services, microservices and standalone applications, that can interact with SQL- and NoSQL-databases like: MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, MongoDB. Our experts have extensive Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment knowledge and use Maven and Gradle in their building pipelines.

Red Hat Openshift and OKD

Our consultants have years of experience working with Red Hat OpenShift and Red Hat OKD clusters. Both as architects of many clusters and as daily operators/system administrators. The expertises include the following aspects:

  • Docker, including containerisation of non-containerised (web) applications
  • Configuration Management Database (CMDB) maintenance
  • Cluster storage (including NFS, iSCSI, GlusterFS and CEPH)
  • Cluster backup/restore (using Velero Backup)
  • Virtualisation and hypervisor management of underlying nodes (e.g. based on Red Hat Virtualization, VMWare, XEN and ProxMox)
  • Orchestration using Red Hat Ansible
  • SSO-solutions (Red Hat KeyCloak)

Python

At Proteon our consultants use Python for automating their daily activities. It is Proteon’s number one scripting language, but we also use it for web applications using frameworks like Plone and Django. Our Python consultants are skilled in both Python 2 and Python 3 and are also familiar with CSV, XML, SOAP, REST, JSON and YAML.

Linux

Our consultant are Linux geeks. Some have been working with Linux since the early 90’s. They have experience with multiple Linux distributions, but prefer Debian and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) including their derivatives like Ubuntu and CentOS. They love to work on the command line and have extensive shell and shell scripting knowledge and are seasoned in virtualisation technologies like XEN, VMWare and ProxMox. Additionally most of our consultants have experience in hardening Linux using firewalling, IP-tables and SELinux. For server configuration and orchestration Puppet and Ansible are being used.

Kubernetes

Our consultants many years of experience working with Kubernetes and containerisation. Both as architects of clusters and as daily operators/system administrators. The expertises include the following aspect

  • Docker, including containerisation of non-containerised (web) applications
  • Configuration Management Database (CMDB) maintanance
  • Cluster storage (including NFS, iSCI and CEPH)
  • Cluster backup/restore (using Veleroo Backup)
  • Running K8s clusters on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Orchestrating using Ansible and Puppet

DevOps

Our DevOp consultants have a background in either software development (e.g. Java and Python) or system administration. They are familiar with Linux, Git, Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) and infrastructure as code. They know their way around virtual machines and containers and are essentially jack-of-all-trades when it comes to hosting challenges.
