The Kunstuitleen Utrecht(Utrecht Art Library) has temporarily shut its doors following a ransomware attack on the Kunstuitleen in Utrecht. This type of attack disrupts computer systems, and the attackers are demanding a ransom to restore access.

What Happened?

Last weekend, staff at Kunstuitleen, located on Sint Jacobsstraat, discovered the cyberattack. As a result, they promptly informed all customers about the situation, as there’s a chance that some personal data may have been compromised. They also advised customers to be on guard against phishing scams, where fraudsters send deceptive emails to trick individuals into sharing sensitive information.

Current Situation

An employee shared, “We’re doing everything we can to resolve this issue. However, we’re still uncertain whether any personal data has actually been accessed and what that data may be.”

The Art Library is expected to stay closed until August 28, but this timeline may change if the issues are resolved sooner.
