Hackers have released internal documents from Leidos Holdings Inc, a major IT services provider for the U.S. government. According to Bloomberg News, the breach involves data taken during a previous incident affecting a system from Diligent Corp., which Leidos uses.
Leidos, based in Virginia and a primary contractor for the U.S. Department of Defense, discovered the issue recently. They are investigating the matter, as the leaked documents were part of an earlier reported breach. This breach involved the Diligent system used by Leidos to store information from internal investigations.
The company confirmed that the breach did not affect their own network or any sensitive customer data. Leidos also mentioned that all necessary notifications were made in 2023 when the issue with the third-party vendor was first identified.
A Diligent spokesperson linked the problem to a 2022 incident involving their subsidiary, Steele Compliance Solutions. They had informed affected customers and taken steps to address the situation in November 2022.
